Had one hell of a turn out last time.  Can it possibly be repeated back to back  ??

Just a reminder before everyone heads off to Hyner or other such Memorial Day fun stuff.   Our meeting....which "usually" is the first Friday quarterly, will instead be held on Friday, June 11th at 7:30pm.   I'll send off another email next week to update what the anticipated menu will be but most probably it will be something on the BBQ. And as usual the hot tub will be fired up and we'll have beer and wine.  BYOB-W  is also always appreciated.  We'll also have the movie "Big Blue Sky" playing on the big screen TV.

Topics for the meeting will be brief.  We'll talk about the status of High Rock this summer/fall and weather or not the fly-in and fund raiser will be possible.  And....maybe some fun stories from Hyner?  Will the Hyner prophecies once again come true?

So....hope to see you all there.  And...if you have any requests for chow, let us know.   And....RSVP's are always a  big help with planning too.

Have a fun weekend. Fly safe and see you in a couple of weeks!

Hello everybody!  We're going to have to delay the meeting by 1 month.  We will reschedule it for the first friday in April ( Good Friday? ) so...mark your calendars.

Our driveway is a mess.  We still have piles of snow and what parking we do have is extremely limited or a muddy, mucky mess.  Where folks normally could park would be very likely to get stuck in the mud and/or tear up the yard. So......

Please pass the word.  Sorry for the delay but we need time for everything to dry up.

Thanks!

A message from the Prez:

 Dear MHGA Member;

It is renewal time for membership with the Maryland Hang Gliding Association.   Your support is greatly appreciated.  Your generosity through membership supports the local flying community and foot launch sites like High Rock, Oregon Ridge, The Pulpit and many more.

A perfect example of membership being of value, and of your dues and participation working for you is showcased in the recent developments and site improvements at The Pulpit and High Rock.  As most of you know, our member
( former MHGA Flight Director and former CHGPA President ) Janni Papakrivos spearheaded the drive to create a running launch at The Pulpit.  Janni and many others had the vision, got the project moving and we now have a new and improved launch that both hang gliders and paragliders can use.  It was a huge success!

In similar fashion, the High Rock launch is being considered for a face lift too. Member Dan Tuckwiller is doing a lot of hard work to make this happen.  Again, membership and volunteerism will be key for this project to be successful as well.  With any luck we will have a new and improved launch there as well.

It goes without saying that membership is key to keeping our historic and cherished flying sites open, improved, maintained and insured. After all it is you that ultimately benefit.  And don't forget the fun quarterly meetings, and fly-ins!

So please....sign up once again so that we can keep our USHPA chapter status in tact; the club humming along and our mountain sites open.  Your physical and financial support is greatly appreciated and vital to keep it all going.

Sincerely,

Richard Hays
President / MHGA

We will be holding a meeting on Friday, December 4th at 7pm.  As usual we'll have the food-a-plenty, fire pit and hot tub going.   We'll discuss the developments at High Rock and The Pulpit and hopefully have some good yarn to spin regarding both.
