2007 News
Member Applications have been mailed. A big thank you to those who have already returned your forms. This makes the treasurers job much easier! The 2005 member roster was used for the mailing so if you did not get one and want to join you can get an app from the join/renew page or let me know and I will send you one. Check out the cover letter from the clubs President.
We would like to have some patches produced for the members. What logo should we use for the patches? The logo at the top of the page was from our former web page. I don't know who designed it. If you have an idea for a patch or would like to design one for us let me know.

I want to personally thank you guys for your contributions to
this years High Rock Fly In. We were able to meet all expenses and donate
$ 340.00 to Emma Jane Carbaugh in support of her and her family for allowing us
to land on their property ( 30+ years!! )
To Kraig and Connie; the raffle was a big success and netted a lions' share of
the money for the gift contribution to Emma. Thank you so much for your
generous contributions. Everyone got recognized the night of the raffle
and will so again in the forthcoming article posted for the two websites.

Its that time of year again. Like a bad case of gas, Christmas
is right around the corner. And so is the annual MHGA meeting which is
slickly disguised as a Party.
The usual as usual. Leigh will be doing her do with the food; I'll get the
booze; Alex will try and set the deck on fire with the fire pit and the hot tub
will be waiting for the first bare ass to hit it. Or...bring a suit.
We'll put some hang gliding videos on and some shots of the recent outings at
The Pulpit, High Rock and Oregon Ridge. We'll recap the recent fly-ins too.
So....don't be lame. Get off your Merry Christmas derriere's and get to the
house on Friday, December 7th at 7pm. Bring some libations ( or not
) and a dish ( or not ).
Do you want to do a wine tasting? If so, bring a bottle of hooch and we'll
bag it up. And maybe we can get the wine master of ceremonies ( Danny
Brotto ) to referee again. Make it good or make it bad; just bring it and
bag it.
Friday, December 7th at 7pm. 2700 Papermill Road; Phoenix, Md. 21131

DECEMBER MHGA MEETING? CHRISTMAS PARTY:
Usual anxiety over who and how many would attend. Very hard to plan a
meeting/party when you don't have a clue if 2 or twenty are going to show.
As it turned out, we had a head count of 20! So...thank god Leigh planned
for that regardless of my whining and negativism.
George Tutor once again donated the steaks ( god damn good steaks too I might
add ) and they were grilled to perfection. Thank you Georgie! Other
menu items were steamed shrimp, salad, rolls, fancy little hot dog thangs,
cheeses, dessert cakes, etc. etc. Thanks to all who brought stuff too.
We never did get around to the wine tasting but from all the empties found the
following day, it apparently was a "silent" wine tasting event with
every bottle a winner. There was also a pretty good selection of beers ( Sam
Adams, Corona, Yuengling, Heineken ) for the beer boys, but...quite a few left
over so...we're either getting wimpy or everyone is switching to wine.
Two fires were going all night; one on the side deck and one out front by the
hot tub. Brian Vant-Hull drove down from NYC and graced us with his presence
around 10pm! Hugh and Sally came up from DC and Ashley also arrived with
some cool movies. Rusty also came down from Harrisburg and Steve and Mara
Krichten came down from the NE Maryland area. So....the MHGA was well
represented by the long distance dudes. Speaking of movies, we had some
video footage of the Pulpit Fly-In; The High Rock Fly-In and....the Thanksgiving
weekend get together at Oregon Ridge/flying fun. Hey Ashley.....you left your
movie here!
The crowd thinned out around midnight except for some die-hards who dove into
the hot tub. Everything finally ended around 2pm with some overnight guests
safely put away here and there.
All in all, we've had a very successful MHGA year. The meetings have been
a huge success overall and we've even experienced some growth. We'll do a
recap of the year at the March meeting and plan some stuff for 2008.
Thanks to everyone who has made the MHGA a success this year. Merry
Christmas, Happy New Year and see you in March!
